Meet the Team: Tia Walton-Streeter, Director of Quality

In this edition of our “Meet the Team” series, we meet Tia Walton-Streeter, Director of Quality. At Lightship, quality is a constant across every setting, study, and team. Here, we talked to Tia about what drew her to Lightship, how quality translates in her day-to-day, and how she unwinds after a workday is done.
We’re so happy to speak with you, Tia! Tell us, how long have you been with Lightship? What brought you here?
I've been with Lightship for three months. What drew me here was the intention behind the business. It's so important that we ensure diversity in clinical trials, and Lightship is genuinely committed to reducing barriers and making participation possible for more people. Being part of the solution matters to me.
What does a typical day in your role look like?
One of the things I love about my role is that every day is different. Some days are investigative; others are centered around problem-solving. But every day is collaborative. My overall responsibility is to ensure strong quality management across all teams, maintain a strong oversight and understanding of regulatory compliance, assess risks, and provide continuous support to operations.
What excites you most about working in clinical research?
I love being part of a field that supports groundbreaking medical advancements! Every study is different, and there's always something new to learn. The combination of scientific progress and continuous learning keeps my work energizing.
How does your work contribute to Lightship’s mission of making research participation possible for all?
Quality is one of the most critical functions in clinical research. I may not be the one conducting trial visits, but I ensure that our teams are operating in compliance and generating data that we can consistently defend. This allows Lightship to deliver on its commitments to sponsors and participants across all settings, every time.
What is your favorite part about working at Lightship?
The amazing camaraderie of the team! Being the "new person" at any company has its moments of intimidation, but everyone has been so welcoming, open to answering questions, and willing to trust me as a partner. That feels good.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I absolutely love to cook! It's truly therapeutic and helps me unwind.
Thank you, Tia, for sharing your perspective and for the care you bring to every aspect of quality at Lightship. The work you do behind the scenes to ensure compliance, oversight, and consistency across every study helps make everything else possible. We're glad to have you on the team!
